{"id":489,"date":"2012-06-05T13:27:30","date_gmt":"2012-06-05T18:27:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.properwichita.com\/consulting\/?p=489"},"modified":"2012-06-05T13:35:07","modified_gmt":"2012-06-05T18:35:07","slug":"computer-repair-wichita-look-out-when-you-buy-local","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.properwichita.com\/consulting\/2012\/06\/05\/computer-repair-wichita-look-out-when-you-buy-local\/","title":{"rendered":"Computer Repair Wichita &#8211; Look Out When You &#8216;Buy Local&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For more information about <a title=\"Computer and network Support in Wichita KS\" href=\"http:\/\/www.properwichita.com\/\">computer repair and support in Wichita KS<\/a>, visit our homepage at Proper Technology Solutions.<\/p>\n<h2>What Does &#8216;Buy Local&#8217; Mean Anyway?<\/h2>\n<p>So I&#8217;m a Search Engine guy, you&#8217;ve probably already noticed.\u00a0 I spend a lot of time looking at results to see how we (and our SEO clients) can be better found on the web.\u00a0 The other day I found a competitor that I never saw in the past (I won&#8217;t name them, but drop me a line!)<\/p>\n<p>Sharp website, local phone number and address for mobile Wichita computer repair.\u00a0 I did a little looking around, because they had lots of reviews in Google and other places.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s what I found:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Google Streetmap view shows that their &#8216;local&#8217; address is somehow in the intersection between a public school and a church, neither of which have that address.<\/li>\n<li>All of the Google+ reviews are from &#8216;A Google User&#8217; and don&#8217;t have names\/faces attached to them.<\/li>\n<li>Numerous &#8216;local&#8217; pages from at least a dozen cities.<\/li>\n<li>20+ complaints on the BBB website<\/li>\n<li>An &#8216;expose&#8217;-style entry on a geek blog.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The last bullet was the most interesting.\u00a0 The website claimed that the modus operandi of this computer repair outfit is as follows:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Setup a local phone number<\/li>\n<li>Wait for someone to schedule an on-site tech from the website<\/li>\n<li>Advertise on Craig&#8217;s List for someone to do the job<\/li>\n<li>Send that person out to the customer (probably unvetted)<\/li>\n<li>Bill the customer (Minimum $99)<\/li>\n<li>Send the tech a payment (or more often not, according to the expose)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>I guess you could say this is buying local!\u00a0 In the computer repair business, I guess we need to follow the same procedures we do in other fields:\u00a0 Do some homework.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re looking for small business or residential computer repair, service and support in Wichita and surrounding areas from a local provider, give us a call at (316) 337-5628 or stop by our office at 4601 E.
