{"id":484,"date":"2012-05-24T15:20:56","date_gmt":"2012-05-24T20:20:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.properwichita.com\/consulting\/?p=484"},"modified":"2012-05-24T15:20:56","modified_gmt":"2012-05-24T20:20:56","slug":"wichita-it-service-seo-case-study-round-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.properwichita.com\/consulting\/2012\/05\/24\/wichita-it-service-seo-case-study-round-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Wichita IT Service &#8211; SEO Case Study Round 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For more information about <a title=\"Computer and network Support in Wichita KS\" href=\"http:\/\/www.properwichita.com\/\">computer repair and support in Wichita KS<\/a>, visit our homepage at Proper Technology Solutions.<\/p>\n<h2>Search Engine Optimization Case Study Part 2<\/h2>\n<p>We discussed SEO in-depth in the first post in this series <a title=\"Wichita Computer Repair \u2013 A Case Study for Search Engine Marketing\" href=\"http:\/\/www.properwichita.com\/consulting\/2012\/05\/02\/wichita-computer-repair-an-case-study-for-search-engine-marketing\/\">(SEO Case Study)<\/a>.\u00a0 Today we&#8217;ll talk about some of the major changes made and look at some of the results we&#8217;ve seen so far.<\/p>\n<h2>What&#8217;s in a Name?<\/h2>\n<p>The original website was located at www.mytripfix.com.\u00a0 A great name, short and snappy for email and name recognition, but it wasn&#8217;t doing anything for helping the website stand out in the crowd.\u00a0 We changed the primary website over to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.travelagentwichita.com\/\">www.travelagentwichita.com<\/a>, capturing what we guessed would be an exact Google search for a majority of users.\u00a0 The original domain names are still accessible, they just forward the traffic on to the new domain name.\u00a0 In a nutshell, everything is the same other than the new name on the site.\u00a0 No need to change business cards or promotional material.<\/p>\n<h2>\u00a0<\/h2>\n<h2>Content is King<\/h2>\n<p>Looking at the top dogs for the search terms required, we identified a big issue.\u00a0 #1 in Google had over 7,000 pages in the index.\u00a0 Our site &#8211; 7.\u00a0 We resurrected the website&#8217;s blog and the owner is creating pages like mad.\u00a0 The more content a site has that is relevant to the subject matter, the better.\u00a0 If you (as Google) had to recommend a book to someone on a certain subject, you&#8217;d be more likely to recommend the book that had 7,000 pages on that subject than the 7-pager.<\/p>\n<h2>Use the Description<\/h2>\n<p>The description tag in HTML is what Google uses to give you that 0ne-liner below the name of the website.\u00a0 You can have a whole paragraph, but make sure you put your knockout punches in the first line or two.\u00a0 The selling point for me for using a travel agent was the fact that they don&#8217;t charge for their services (Read: FREE!).\u00a0 We changed the description tag to let searchers see that right off the bat.\u00a0 Even if we don&#8217;t make it to #1 right away, good news like this can steal clicks away from the top spot.<\/p>\n<h2>Results?<\/h2>\n<p>Google search for &#8216;travel agent wichita&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>4\/26\/12 &#8211; Ranked #41<br \/>\n5\/1\/12 &#8211; Ranked #12<br \/>\n5\/24\/12 &#8211; Ranked #3<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re looking for business or residential IT service in Wichita and surrounding areas, give us a call at (316) 337-5628.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t trust your machine to the big box store when you can have a certified tech come right to you for about the same price.\u00a0 We have experience with everything from typical home networking to advanced multi-location networks for business.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For more information about computer repair and support in Wichita KS, visit our homepage at Proper Technology Solutions.
