{"id":476,"date":"2012-05-02T11:07:00","date_gmt":"2012-05-02T16:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.properwichita.com\/consulting\/?p=476"},"modified":"2012-05-04T16:31:35","modified_gmt":"2012-05-04T21:31:35","slug":"wichita-computer-repair-an-case-study-for-search-engine-marketing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.properwichita.com\/consulting\/2012\/05\/02\/wichita-computer-repair-an-case-study-for-search-engine-marketing\/","title":{"rendered":"Wichita Computer Repair &#8211; A Case Study for Search Engine Marketing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For more information about <a title=\"Computer and network Support in Wichita KS\" href=\"http:\/\/www.properwichita.com\/\">computer repair and support in Wichita KS<\/a>, visit our homepage at Proper Technology Solutions.<\/p>\n<p>I have posted several blog entries about the Search Engine Optimization (SEO)\u00a0services we perform as part of our Wichita IT support business.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s refresh what I like to consider a &#8216;clearing of the air&#8217; about this type of consulting.\u00a0 In the field of hacking, everyone is familiar with the terms &#8216;White Hat&#8217; and &#8216;Black Hat&#8217;.\u00a0 These terms apply equally to SEO services.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some hard and fast rules:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If an optimization consultant promises &#8216;quick&#8217; or &#8216;guaranteed&#8217; top listings, you are probably dealing with a &#8216;Black Hat&#8217;.\u00a0 You will receive quick bumps to your rankings, possibly even all the way to the top in Google.\u00a0 Unfortunately, like all things that seem too good to be true, you may find your site disappear completely from the listings due to the unethical practices used that are actually violations of Google&#8217;s rules.<\/li>\n<li>Optimization takes time.\u00a0 The more competitive your market, the longer it may take to see prime results.<\/li>\n<li>Content is king.\u00a0 Take off your business marketing hat for a moment and think like your ideal customers.\u00a0 When you are searching for something in particular, you want to be directed to a site that is &#8216;about&#8217; your target.\u00a0 Make sure your site is about what your customers are trying to find.\u00a0 By that, I simply mean that you have to talk about it.\u00a0 Specifically.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I&#8217;ve started doing a case study for a local Wichita business, The Travel Junkie, LLC.\u00a0 As a <a title=\"Travel Agency in Wichita\" href=\"http:\/\/www.travelagentwichita.com\" target=\"_blank\">Wichita travel agent<\/a>, they provide no-cost travel planning services.\u00a0 In fact, they are planning\u00a0a 15th anniversary trip for me and my wife as I speak!\u00a0 Working with the owner, we decided that the most common search for his customers would be along the lines of &#8216;travel agent wichita&#8217; and variations of the same.<\/p>\n<p>As of 4\/26\/2012, the site was ranked #41 for &#8216;travel agent wichita&#8217;, well outside of how deep most searchers will go through the results.\u00a0 As of 5\/1\/2012, they are currently ranking #12.<\/p>\n<p>This will be the first of a series for this case study.\u00a0 We will discuss some of the changes made, from simple changes most website owners can make to more complex topics.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re interested in an SEO evaluation for your website, we are currently offering consulting services for businesses in Wichita and surrounding areas.\u00a0 Give us a call at (316) 337-5628 and we can discuss your web optimization project.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For more information about computer repair and support in Wichita KS, visit our homepage at Proper Technology Solutions.
